All of our Data readers have unique serial numbers to help identify them when in use and depending on the operational environment they can either be issued to a member of staff directly, e.g. as part of their uniform/work equipment or they can simply be pooled and issued to staff as to when required. A Personnel ID tag is used to identify the user so either working method is acceptable.

Past experience indicates that equipment that is issued to a staff member who signs for it (accepts responsibility for it in other words), generally treats it with more respect, so it lasts longer, requires less maintenance, and will very rarely get lost. You would be surprised how many calls we get to replace a lost reader!
