5 things that every security guard needs
Considering the amount we rely on technology in today’s age, it’s no wonder that thieves pray on business premises. There’s so much tech in there that in one fell swoop they can make thousands. This is why all businesses should employ a security guard.
You want someone who is going to go out of their way to adequately protect your assets though don’t you? Here we’re going to look at 5 things that every security guard should have.
Physically and mentally fit
The job of a security guard, despite many stereotypes, isn’t an easy one. They must be prepared to deal with any eventuality whilst on site and so remaining in shape is a must. In terms of mental fitness, your security guard should be prepared to quickly address problems and find a solution.
Awareness
One of the key elements of working as a security guard is that they must be able to detect a threat or danger well in advance. This requires constant awareness. If they aren’t alert one minute, a thief could be making away with your precious computers the next.
They should be able to notice when something is out of the ordinary or when someone is acting suspiciously around your property.
People person
Another key element in the role of a security guard is to be a good people person. Whilst on their duty they may not come across anyone there’s still a slight chance that they’ll catch a thief in the act. Wouldn’t it be better for all involved if your security guard could talk the thief round? They’re going to come across violence in their job, so understanding people is a must.
Trustworthy
These people are protecting your property and assets, they have to be trustworthy. Imagine if you hired a security guard only to find out that they’re stealing from you too. Don’t trust them? Don’t hire them.
Responsible
Whatever the role, you want to hire someone who is responsible. You don’t want a security guard that’s going to mess about on the job. You need them to be responsible for their own actions and be able to manage their time effectively.
They should also be able to report back to you on anything that they noticed during their rounds. Perhaps they feel extra security is needed? You should never neglect to listen to your security; they’ll know best how to protect your property.
