Combat Fire Hazards With Our Fire Monitoring System
Fire alarm checks are conducted every week in buildings to ensure safety against fire hazards. An officer is supposed to walk the building, check the call points, note down what they find, and move on. The concern with manual reporting is that once the check is written on a clipboard, there’s no real way to prove it actually happened as it says it did.
Our advanced Fire Monitoring System was built to cover that gap. It can be configured to record regular & annual checks or services of a fire alarm system, generating unalterable reports that identify who performed the task, the actual location or system component that was checked or serviced, a description of the task, and a date and time stamp confirming exactly when it happened.
How Our Fire Monitoring System Works?
Here’s how it actually works, from the moment a Touch Button goes on the wall to the moment a report lands on the administrative desk.
Identifying Critical Locations & Components
Every check starts with a Touch Button. These can be mounted on a wall, door frame, or system component using a variety of fixing options, depending on where you need them. They’re hermetically sealed, made from stainless steel, and built to be genuinely robust. Each Touch Button carries a unique serial number, which is registered in the MiniTool Pro Software’s database with an appropriate description, such as Main Lobby, Reception Fire Exit, Ballroom Emergency Call Point, and so on. Once that’s done, the system knows exactly which physical point in the building corresponds to which serial number.
Role of MiniTool Pro Data Reader
The serial numbers on each Touch Button are read using the MiniTool Pro data reader, which can store up to 60,000 readings, each with its own date and time stamp. That’s a lot of headroom for a building with multiple checks running across different schedules. An event book, or several event books, each containing 10 Touch Buttons, can be registered in the database with predefined descriptions of the tasks or actions routinely performed by the Fire Marshal. Pass, Fail, Obstruction, and Obstruction Removed are the kinds of entries that can be logged against each check.
Our Fire Monitoring System in Action
1. Registering the patrol
The fire warden starts by registering their Personnel Tag on the MiniTool Pro Data reader, effectively telling the system who is about to use it.
2. Reading the location
The fire marshal visits a location within the building or a specific system component and reads the associated Touch Button. The system automatically records the date and time of that reading.
3. Logging the task
A pre-defined task or action is then read from the event book: Pass, Fail, Obstruction, or whatever applies. At this point, the system knows who performed the task, when and on what date, the location they visited or the system component they checked, and the action they recorded.
4. Transferring the data
At the end of the patrol, the MiniTool Pro Data reader connects to the management computer via a USB data transfer cable, and the recorded data is transferred into the Patrol Management software’s database.
5. Turning Readings Into Useful Insights
Once the data is in the system, it forms a chronological log of serial numbers. The system then associates each of those serial numbers with their registered description, turning a list of numbers and timestamps into meaningful reports tailored to the building in question: whether that’s a hotel, a tower block, or any other public building. From there, a selection of predefined reports can be used to analyse the stored data, giving a clear, structured view of what was checked, by whom, and when.
