Timekeeping tips to ensure you are never late for work
How many times have you been late for work this year? If the figure is pretty high, and your movements are being monitored by a time recording solution, you could run the risk of disciplinary action, or at the very least, have some of your salary docked.
Look at the reasons why you are constantly late. Could you take some of this avoiding action to ensure you always reach work on time?
Top tips to improve timekeeping
1.) Get up earlier
Are you allowing enough time to get ready, have something to eat and leave the house on time? If it feels like you haven’t got enough time to get ready in the morning, and this is causing you to be late for work, are you rising early enough?
Set your alarm clock twenty minutes earlier in the morning and this gives you a little bit of breathing space. It could be all the time you need to get to work on the dot.
2.) Learn community transport times
Are you late because of transport issues? If you regularly miss the bus, or haven’t bothered to check the train, tube or tram times, it’s no wonder you are always late for work.
This is a simple fix…
Get to know the times of public transport, or if you drive to work, allow plenty of time to reach the office, taking traffic congestion into consideration.
3.) Stop visiting the coffee shop
Do you like to grab a hot cup of Espresso from your favourite coffee shop every morning before work? That’s fine as long as you make it in on time. It’s not so good if you regularly roll up late clutching a drink and a fresh patisserie, it won’t take your boss long to clock this type of behaviour.
If you can’t make it to work on time after buying a coffee in the morning, you’ll have to wait until you take a break.
Or stopping for chats
Like to have a chat with your work pals in the morning, discussing what you got up to the night before? There’s nothing wrong with that if you arrive 10 minutes early each morning. It’s a bit cheeky to start nattering though if you’re still stood outside your place of work and you should have been at your desk five minutes ago.
Cut the chats out if they are making you late in the morning.
Time recording solutions will soon put a stop to persistent lateness. Don’t set a bad influence. Take active steps to arrive at work at time and your employer won’t have any cause for complaint when they check their TimePilot Time and Attendance systems.
